Blizzard vs Cheaters which side are you on?
Blizzard has filed a suit against MDY, the company that makes Glider.
MDY then sued to establish its right to sell their software, their bot software.
I have a passionate hate for cheaters in any game, but especially Blizzard games since they are my favorite game publisher and produce eSport ready games. Games that require a balanced competitive scene.
Ever since Map hackers showed up in Starcraft and hearing the community uproar, Blizzard has been working hard to curb cheating.
Now some may argue that Blizzard suing this company is making copyright laws more stricter and imposing. However I see that as a necessary evil vs the cheaters & developers making cheating tools.
Quote from the source article:
“The question is, how is installing a third-party tool copyright infringement if it doesn’t use Blizzard’s code? This is where things get dicey. In a filing, Blizzard quotes a section from its EULA that says that “All connections to the Game and/or the Service, whether created by the Game Client or by other tools and utilities, may only be made through methods and means expressly approved by Blizzard.” In other words, you’re only allowed to play WoW using Blizzard-approved software.”
I don’t usually post about WoW, but this law suit effects us all in either way it goes. Blizzard wins and it may start a new trend of companies being allow to impose more control over how you play games. Blizzard loses and companies like MDY will continue making hacks and bots which ruin the experience of games for us all.
What is your opinion on this?
I personally am rooting for Blizzard and I also wish Map hackers could get jail-time, but hey we all wish for something

Well, to be honest, in wow I personally think it's ok to use those kinds of bots. Blizzard has made a game that's so boreing at times you actually wanna cry your eyes out (Yes, I've played it since beta so I know about it), and if this can somehow be circumvented, then I'm all about it. It doesn't really ruin the game for someone else, except maybe for idlers in pve, but otherwise it kinda doesn't. The whole autopilot for a mmo is a great idea, and instead of laying focus on the gameing for grinding money or something like that, you should put the focus on the fun parts, like the PvP / PvE. A grind is just "Kill mob, next. Kill mob, next." and how fun is that really? Not at all. I haven't tried this glider thing myself and I don't actually know what it does, but I do know that some automated services, which you could use while you were at work or in school, could be fricking awesome for that game.
